Watch Demi Lovato Talk Mental Illness, Sing 'Confident' at DNC

The 2016 Democratic National Convention kicked off Monday night (July 25) in Philadelphia's Convention Hall.

An opening musical performance came courtesy of longtime Hillary Clinton supporter Demi Lovato, who talked about her struggles with mental illness and the importance of breaking the stigma around treating and talking about mental health.

"I urge politicians to break the stigma and support laws that provide access to better healthcare," Lovato said. "This is not about politics; it's the right thing to do."

After that, Lovato performed "Confident," the title track from her last album.
