Intensive Partial Hospitalization Program

As someone who has struggled with their own issues in the past, I have lived in many transitional living facilities as a client, however I never received the care or the resources that CAST provides.
— Charles Thomas

Our partial hospitalization program is one-of-a-kind treatment based on the CAST Alignment Model. If you want help solving your issues with substance abuse or struggles with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or other challenges, we offer support in a safe, secure, and comfortable environment.

What is partial hospitalization?

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) usually lasts about 30 days. A PHP provides a less intensive level of treatment than in-patient or residential program, but is more intensive than an outpatient program or referral from a healthcare provider.

Some people enter a PHP after a hospital program; others come directly into partial hospitalization.

How do I know if a partial hospitalization program is right for me?

Whether a PHP is right for you depends, in part, on your stage of recovery or healing process. If you’re leaving a treatment facility or a hospital program, but feel you still need help and support, or you were referred by your healthcare provider, partial hospitalization might be just what you need. Returning to life at home immediately after treatment can be a challenge. If you don’t feel you’re ready, CAST’s partial hospitalization program is a good solution.

The difference between living in a treatment facility and living at home can make for a more significant treatment experience. Even though you’re undergoing treatment during the day in another program—under constant supervision—once you get home, you’re no longer supervised. This can make it tough to stay sober, strong, healthy and maintain gains.

A PHP is designed to bridge the gap between residential treatment and home. When you join in on CAST’s PHP, you have the option to live in one of our Wellness Apartments, you’ll attend therapy five days a week, and you’ll move forward with recovery.

What does CAST’s PHP treat?

People come to our PHP for many reasons. Some have anxiety and/or depression. Others struggle with a disorder, such as ADHD, bipolar disorder, or an eating disorder. Some people seek to end the cycle of substance abuse. Others are dealing not only with addiction, but also a mental or psychiatric illness.

We have the experienced staff and the necessary tools to treat all the above in a calm, comforting, and structured environment.

What’s involved in CASTs PHP?

You’ll stay in our program for at least four weeks, but we encourage people to stay longer if they need to. If you don’t feel ready to return home after four weeks, you are free to stay in the program and continue with therapy and other recovery activities.

What should I expect from CASTs PHP?

Comprehensive Support

Our PHP is open to you if you’re age 18 or older. As part of our program, you’ll meet five days a week for five to six hours a day for therapy and other activities. You’ll attend individual and group therapy sessions, as well as lifestyle coaching sessions.

Comfort and Security

While you’re with us, you may live in one of our comfortable Wellness Apartments with others in the program. Being in such a secure environment with others in similar situations is the perfect supportive atmosphere to help you learn essential life skills.

Trained staff are on-site at the Wellness Apartments 24/7 to ensure you have help when you need it.

The CAST Alignment Model

The CAST Alignment Model (CAM) is a key feature of our PHP. The CAM is a unique method of treatment that addresses your need to integrate your mental, emotional, physical and spiritual selves. This model uses therapeutic tools to help you define your goals and take responsibility for achieving them.

At CAST, our core philosophy sets us apart. We believe awareness and empowerment can transform you and allow you to live the life you want, free from the issues that hold you back. Our programs are designed to provide you with guidance and support as you learn to improve your mental, emotional, and spiritual self.

Throughout your PHP journey, a CAM facilitator will guide your recovery and help you define and work toward your goals. We’ll customize the CAM to suit your needs and goals and provide you with therapy options to help you in your unique recovery.

What kinds of treatment can I get from the CAST PHP?

You’ll benefit from:

Case management – This is coordinated by the CAST team. You’ll meet weekly with your case manager to discuss your progress and any special support you need to move forward to reach your goals.

Individual counseling – One-on-one time allows you to focus on the topics that are important to you. Your counselor will guide you as you address issues that affect your life and limit your growth.

Some techniques we offer include:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Mindfulness-based therapy
  • Somatic experiencing
  • Narrative therapy
  • Relapse prevention

These are proven to help people deal with addiction, depression, anxiety, and other issues.

Group therapy – You’ll have daily sessions with other people in the program. Group therapy sessions are guided by a therapist, and group interaction is highly encouraged.

Psychiatric services – These are scheduled on an as-needed basis with LA psychiatrists who are experts in their fields. Everyone works together on recovery, allowing us to integrate psychiatric services into your treatment plan if necessary.

Lifestyle coaching – You’ll learn a wide range of skills to help you in recovery. When you leave us, you’ll be able to maintain a healthy lifestyle through:

  • Fitness
  • Nutrition
  • Career development
  • Other skills, according to your needs and interests

Family help – Your family is not alone. We can tailor help to their needs, so they are supported during your recovery as well—and can support you even better. We offer weekend workshops and weekly family sessions.

Your enduring recovery and path to healing is most important. Spending part of your journey in partial hospitalization might be exactly the healing you need. We would love to answer any questions you have!
