Alcohol Rehab

By Robert Lien, MHA

Alcohol addiction can affect people of all ages from all backgrounds regardless of education and income. Oftentimes it is not difficult to stop drinking alcohol but the challenge becomes how to stay stopped. If alcohol addiction is strong enough it may cause a person to have withdrawal symptoms when they stop drinking. Withdrawal symptoms may include shaking, nausea, anxiety, high blood pressure and can also lead to seizures or heart attack. Medical detox from alcohol may be needed if someone has any of these symptoms and to also help with cravings for more alcohol. During detox for alcohol, a medical doctor will prescribe medication so the person does not experience any of these dangerous withdrawal symptoms and is able to begin treatment.

Learning how to live without alcohol is the next step in addressing alcohol addiction. For many people alcohol use is part of their culture and is widely accepted in many professions. However, if alcohol has been a concern for you or someone you love, there is help. At CAST Centers we help people who struggle with alcohol addiction by providing group therapy and individual (one-on-one) therapy sessions. In these sessions we help people to identify triggers that may lead them back to wanting to drink alcohol. However, it’s not enough to just identify the triggers that lead to drinking, it is also important to give people tools, coping skills and better communication skills with others so that they do not have to pick up the bottle as a solution.

Rehabilitation for alcohol addiction is a slow and steady process. Insurance companies like Anthem Blue Cross, Cigna PPO, Aetna PPO and United Healthcare PPO may be used to help with the cost of outpatient alcohol rehab at CAST Centers. By utilizing your insurance benefits you may be able to attend our ongoing Intensive Outpatient Program or Partial Hospitalization Program which includes group therapy sessions Monday through Friday.

Recovery from alcohol use is often most successful in a community setting. That is why an outpatient alcohol rehab program helps people to connect with others who are going through a similar experience. In the CAST Centers outpatient group therapy program clients talk with each other about their lives and how they’re facing challenges day-to-day. The clinicians that facilitate the group therapy session help clients to identify feelings and inform them of facts that help each person feel confident and comfortable in their own alcohol addiction recovery.
